For Love of the Game

Isn't that a movie? I'm sure Hubby would know it instantly--not just the title, but all the actors and the entire plot. He's good like that.

So today is my first day back to class. And even though it's my last semester of nursing school and I'll be free soon enough, I made a personal goal to try to work on my writing more during school. Since reading/studying takes up pretty much all my time during the day, and I try to at least look at Hubby during the evenings, I concluded that I have but one option for finding writing time: get up early.

Oh, it pains me! I've decided that on non-clinical days (T, W, Th), I will get up at 5:00am and write for either an hour or until it's time for the day. I already have to get up at 4:00am for clinical days, so this really is just keeping me in the habit, I suppose. I do love my sleep, but sacrifice is necessary for all things.

This morning I got up at 5:30 and managed to write almost 600 words in 45 minutes. I'm happy with that. And now I won't feel the lingering guilt and desire to write in the evenings instead of doing stuff with Hubby.

Win-win. Right?

Let's hope so.

As for this semester, my classes are officially titled "Care of the Maternal/Child Client" and "Care of the Pediatric Client." So, you know, pregnancy, babies, and kids.

*sigh*

We'll see, folks.

Wow, I can't believe it's your final semester.

I get up at 5 am every day, including Christmas, so I can write. The only exception is while on vacation. I used to wake up early then, too. But then my body decided that a vacation meant sleeping in and finally catching up with my sleep.

Sounds like a win-win to me. :)

Oh, and careful -- being around all those mamas and babies can be contagious. ;)

Good for you!

Try not to bitch-slap too many of those mamas when you're working with them. I remember that those visit-to-the doctor times were right up there with church for "Not my best moments as a parent".

Good luck! I am not a morning person. I just can't do it. Can't get out of bed until I absolutely positively must. But luckily I can find other time to write :)

I'm impressed! I can not do 5 am. I do the opposite...I am a night person and I end up doing a lot of my writing long after everyone else in the house goes to bed. I tend to stay up until 1 or so. Some times that back fires on me and I don't get much writing done bc I'm tired...but I know I wouldn't get anything done in the early morning- I just don't function then...at all. Enjoy your evening with your hubby! Best :)

Ugh, baby stuff. I'm sorry. You should visit the childfree subreddit and post some fun annoying stories. :D
