J is also for...Jillian Michaels

I finally came crawling back in the door around 3:30pm today, after an excruciating doctor visit. They were running about an hour-fifteen behind, so my 10:15 appointment turned into more of an 11:30 appointment...But anyway. Not great news about the wrist. Dr. P has pinpointed my pain epicenter as my joint, not the tendons, which is both good and bad news. Good news, because it means that I'm not developing tendinitis, as he'd been fearing. Bad news, because it means that the pain is still coming from the TFCC (which is what he repaired in December). He didn't exactly articulate what that meant, but he did say that he's going to call my physical therapist tomorrow and see if they can work out a better treatment plan.

*sigh* I really can't remember what it was like to have usage of my dominant hand.

Anyway, enough whining about that.

Today I got the Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred dvd in the mail! I've only been reading good reviews of this workout, and like I said, my friend Amanda is already several days in and feeling good.

I'm hoping that coupled with the healthy-eating turnaround I'm still working out, this will help boost me towards my fitness goals. I foresee some minor trouble, considering I can't do any weights or pushups with my right hand, but I'm sure I can figure something out.

I'm ready to SHRED.

(Seriously, though, "shred" is a cool word.)

Aww I'm sorry that the appointment wasn't all positive. I hope you can feel better soon and use your hand again.

Shred is a cool word.

Shred is a way cool word!! And you must tell me how you like that DVD, if you say pain and lots of it, I will cry for joy!!

Sorry about your wrist :(

And I LOVED the Reckoning, even though it creeped me out.

And I meant cry for joy because then it means it's working and I must go get it. I'm crazy about exercise, I confess.

I would not cry for joy because of your pain :)

Shred is a way cool word but if I had my druthers ... I'd pick Bob over Jillian every time! Mostly because I'm a wimp! :)

Sorry about the doc but I'm sure there's other ways to get around push-ups. I LURV Jillian! I want to be her when I grow up.

Yikes, sorry to hear about the wrist and hope they can get something figured out that will help soon!

Good luck with the shred, I've heard really great things about it too!

YAY for Jillian. I have one of her books and she and I reinvented my pantry! I've read a lot of reviews for the Shred, but decided against it because I have a bum knee and a lot of the reviewers said it aggravated their knees... not for me, but I hope it works for you!

Sorry about your wrist still bothering you. :o(

(love the new picture, even if I do miss your thumbs up & smile...I wanna strawberry margarita now, in the worst way.)

I too love the word 'shred'.
Let me know how that dvd is.

Love,
Lola

@Kristin: I could definitely see how it would bother a bad knee or ankle.

@Lola: That was my first *ahem* legal drink...a strawberry daquiri! Wasn't too impressed, actually. :-) But I love strawberry margaritas!

To Everyone Who Expressed Interest: I'm no doubt going to be talking about this during my posts, but I can assure you that after ONE DAY, it's awesome. And by awesome, I sweated, got a stitch in my side in 10 seconds, and felt like vomiting throughout the entire thing. That means it was kickin' my ass.

Hope the hand is better asap!!!!

I took my son to the pediatrician the other day..same thing...waaaaaaaaaaayyy behind and it is not fun making a toddler wait in a waiting room for an hour past his appointment time!

I joined a gym in January and buckled down on my diet...seems to have worked great. I go to the gym 5 days a week and I watch my calorie count...I try to stick to around 1200 a day. Good luck!!

Have you already had wrist surgery, or are you trying to avoid it? I had wrist surgery in 2007 - broke my wrist and had a plate put in - but sounds like yours is more of a repetitive stress injury?

Oh poor wrist! I hope it can be fixed.

SHRED is a really cool word, and it exemplifies a great attitude towards weight control and getting in shape! Have fun with it!!

I'm really sorry about your wrist! :(

Have you ever been to a chiropractor? That did wonders for one part of my wrist problems...

I have that workout. It's pretty good. I like Scary Spice's workout better. She kicked my ace and then laughed! Evil, she is. Evil.

Summer Frey said...

@Meghan: No, it's not a repetitive stress injury. I tore the TFCC ligament last year by twisting my hand too suddenly. I had arthroscopic surgery in December. Things were going pretty well up to this point, but this type of injury is very slow to heal, and the surgery only works 80% of the time.

@Palindrome: I've been to the chiropractor lots before, but I don't think they could do anything for the wrist, since it's an actual tear/surgical repair. Thanks for the thought, though!

There's always a way to modify a workout to your level. But that totally sucks about your wrist. I hope it doesn't get much worse. :o(
