Truthfully?

I have enough things to admit to make a full-fledged tell-the-truth Tuesday post. Here we go:

1. Even though I restored peace with my family, I am seriously considering moving to Alaska to get away from them.

2. In the past 2.5 weeks, I have crocheted 6 gloves, 2 hats, and a scarf, all because I really just wanted an excuse to watch 3 seasons of The Tudors and start Mad Men.

3. I kinda hope to get a mild case of flu before Christmas, as my cheer-o-meter is somewhere around -5.

4. I'm drawing/painting a goofy little family portrait for my in-law family with us all as "Santa's Elves" (inside joke), but I'm torn on including my bro-in-law's girlfriend. They've been together for three years and we think they're serious, but she's Japanese and he's super sensitive about it, and I'm terrified that my cartoony drawing skills might make me seem racist if I try to draw her. But then I'm afraid if I leave her out, bro-in-law will be deeply offended. *deep breath*

5. I told my husband he was getting an Xbox. *cringe* It's not from me.

I feel you on the cheer-o-meter being in the negatives. I feel like such a Scrooge around the holidays.

And, that's a tough choice regarding the portrait... I wish I could offer some advice, but unfortunately I can't. :(

ah, I can so relate to your points number 1 and 2, not that I'm crocheting gloves and hats, but I'm equally successful in finding an excuse to watch THE TUDORS and I also wouldn't mind escaping to Alaska away from the family :)

Well...my mother in law has my wedding photo half hidden because my sister-in-law's then boyfriend soon-to-be fifteen minute husband is in it...I know! Paint her looking the other direction, then you won't offend anyone. I'm sure of it.

it'll all be over come Saturday.

I'll call you in a few minutes to holiday cheer you up, K?

And, I got nothing for advice on the picture thing...but since they aren't officially married (or even engaged), I think you can get by without putting her in the picture. Tell him you'll draw another when for his wedding gift when he makes it official. He can't be mad then, right?

Love you. Now SMILE!

I'm sorry the cheer is so low! It's amazing how stressful holidays can be. I hope everything works out (and I think it's ok to leave her out of the picture, since they're not engaged).

the xbox was the right decision *nods head seriously*
Also, i have family in Alaska, it's still not quite far enough to escape the drama

Also - when did you add that shakespeare sonnet pic? I saw that today and LMAO! It's full of win

I heard Alaska is beautiful!
I'd definitely get a second opinion on the girlfriend.

I'm sorry to hear your cheer-o-meter is so low!! Make yourself a batch of SLUSH! Problem solved. :)

And I'd paint the picture without the girlfriend. If your brother questions her absence, tell him to put a ring on her finger and you'll be happy to add her.

Gosh!!! What a dilemma about your drawing of the girlfriend! I say just go for it - if she sees all your drawings together she might realise and see the spirit for which it was drawn with!! :-) Did that sentence make sense?

Maybe I should go to Alaska too! LOL!!

Well done with the prolific knitting!!!! Take care

Well! I tell you what... draw the freakin' pic, THEN move up here to Alaska and I'll make sure you are well hidden. ;)
Seriously, draw her in the pic. I don't think anyone will get offended especially if they are all "cartoony" looking. AND for Christmas cheer? Get your butt out the door and go give something totally random to a family that needs it. Trust me.

I can relate, Christmas can be very stressful:)

Ha ha! I'm laughing because I'll knit just so I can sit down and watch movies :-)
Good luck with the drawing - I'd say go for it, since you'll all be in it together [g]

Yep yep yep--some toughies! Sorry the cheer-o-meter isn't as high as it should be, but maybe your cheer is a late bloomer and will arrive fresh and in high spirits on Christmas morn.

On the sketch, I'm fifty-fifty. Is the girlfriend likely to see it? If so, not including her may hurt her feelings more than including her will hurt your brothers feelings, if you know what I mean.

Isn't it funny how we artistic types anguish over these things?!?!

Tough call on the girlfriend-in-law. Alaska sounding nicer and nicer...

And, um, Summer Frey? You mentioned Evan so I'm going to assume you haven't eloped with James Frey...so, new pen name or something else? I like it!

It's almost over! Almost! Hang in there...
