And in the End...
I did it.
It wasn't fun, pretty, easy, or enjoyable.
But that's sometimes the thing about writing, isn't it?
I know this year's NaNo has helped me. I wrote with more emotion and passion than I've ever written before, tormented my characters, tortured them at new levels. My voice is getting stronger with each sentence, and I'm taking on bigger challenges with each chapter. I never beat my daily wordcount record from last year (8k), but I did have many days in which I wrote 3-4k.
Thank you for all the kind words and wonderful encouragement! It was certainly a different experience than last year, when my friend bar consisted of three people. I enjoyed following all the progress of those who were trucking along with me, and I hope you all, if you didn't exactly enjoy it, at least got something out of it.
As for me, I pulled out last year's NaNo project a few hours after I got my purple bar and started plotting my revisions. Guess I'm a glutton for punishment. :)

That is fantastic! I can't wait to read it. You know, once you deem it worthy for my mere mortal eyes.
"Damn your eyes!"
Congratulations Summer! I am filled with admiration for those of you who stuck it out through thick and thin and got there in the end. I nearly entered, but I know that this year I would not have managed it. Maybe next year .....!! :D
With a chopped off finger and everything?! No mere mortal, she! A veritable Word Witch, who can crank out 50,000 words with or without a fingertip--you rock, Summer! I can't even imagine writing that much in the space of one month...
Woo-Hoo! Congratulations. You rock! :)
I'm glad I finally found the courage to do NaNo. It's been an unshakable experience. More joy than pain for me. There were only two days of no writing during this time for me, and a few days where the writing tended to struggle a little.
But we're all through it now! Time to celebrate! Woohoo!
Doing NaNo this year was so different than last year. I had so many friends this time around, but it seemed the actual writing was harder this time around
I don't know what it was about this year's NaNo, but I have to agree that it was neither fun, pretty, easy, nor enjoyable.
But NaNo's done now. Time for chocolate!
I'm with you...and CR Ward. It was ugly this year. But we had fun and got 'er done. :)
Also, I've read plenty of what you wrote, and it's EXCELLENT. Swearz, love.
Yay!! Yay!!! Awww I am so so so so so so so happy for you!!! Yay again!!!!!! CONGRATULATIONS and WELL DONE!! Yay!!!!
And look at your doing revisions already! Wow!
Gosh, I feel a little guilty, because I had alot of fun and ease (although someone else must have hogged up all the beautiful, because I KNOW I didn't take any of that out of the bin). And yes, I am that powerful.
But still glad you got done, and thanks for the encouragement! woo hoo!
Good stuff, Summer! When I finished mine on Sunday, I saw that you were closing in on the goal. I enjoyed the whole thing. Really didn't think I could write that fast. Okay, not really fast. Maybe just that much?
HUGE congratulations to you!! I failed miserably at NaNo, but there's always next year :) Be sure to give yourself something awesome to celebrate!
Congrats darling! Enjoy whipping out last year's WIP. You are a brave soul, much braver than me. :)
Congrats! You did it, indeed. Hope you're celebrating... by drinking some nice wine or something!
BOO-YAH!!!! Five up top...now down low! Way to go girl, that's totally awesome. :)
That's wonderful! You set the goal and did it. That, I think, is what it is all about. Setting goals for whatever is important to us and then if at all possible crossing the finish line. But if one doesn't quite make it, I think in the end it's the process that matters, and how one keeps trying!
Yay! Great job!!
Congratulations!! You got beyond the first hurdle ;)
Congrats Summer! And thanks for you and the other ladies being such great NaNo partners too! Made it five times the fun!
As far as me pulling the MS for revisions, I wouldn't bet on it! :D
Congratulations! Yay for revising the other NaNo project--I hope it goes well!
