So last night I was finally working on some writing-related stuff again (waffled back to a previous idea for NaNoWriMo--I know, so indecisive! Gah!), when I realized something:
All those pages of character notes--
All those maps of the world and solar system--
All those details about the "magic"--
The page-long description of a made-up drug--
The hours of Googling manslaughter and imperfect self-defense--
The subsequent scrawling of many post-its with notes from above Googling--
The albeit-short, but still a synopsis of the novel--
--Do Not a Pantser Make.
I feel like my world has been turned on its ear.
This is it, guys. You may officially revoke my pantser card.
Oh, oh, and don't forget to sign up in the Linky for my Show Your Space Blogfest!
Great. Lost another one to the dark side. *sigh*
It's quite a rude awakening isn't it? My card got revoked as well!
Yeah, I thought I was a pantser. Turns out I'm not only NOT a pantser but I'm a crazy obsessive plotter. WTH??
hahaha! Love this post - sending it to a few of my not-so-pantser friends. :D
Your card has 'officially' been revoked. Now doesn't that feel better? :)
Good luck with NANO!
Pantserism has lost one of the greats. I'm sorry to see you go.
I suppose you get lost in the writing woods one too many times and you finally think, hmmm, maybe it's time I started carrying a map.
I will never fully renounce all panster inclinations but I, too, have had to comes to terms with the fact that I'm not winging it the way I once did. I refuse to see this as growing up, however.
Don't worry, Summer! There are a lot of pantsing opportunities once you have the road map down. (Like what I did there? "Road Map" sounds more creative than "outline," right? Better :D)
Glad to hear you're writing again!!
welcome to the side of the plotters.
Don't worry, we have cookies, arranged in perfect right angles.
Also, i used to be a pantser, then it just got easier to plan stuff before than to try and fix stuff later
Dude! You've abandoned me. *sobs*
The ONLY reason I will let this ONE slide...is...
does this mean (if you don't waffle back again) that you are indeed doing 'my' book????!!! (say yes!) *jumps up and down* Yay!!
Don't you dare waffle back. I have rights, you know. And it is my right to strongly suggest you have more to give me.
Besides, I assure you...it's good stuff.
(but can you please add the ninja-zombie-aliens to kick the bad vampiric-mermaid-unicorn-aliens asses?)
And...to whom does that writing space belong (on your sidebar)?
Happy weekend, love.
(Stay away from horse schlong.)
Never mind...it's your old desk. I recognized the wire racks...but the rest is all different now. Plus, there aren't two kittens mowing down on plants in this picture...so it was all wrong.
Yay! Welcome to the Bright Side. :D
Love the picture. Plotters beware :)
Jules @ Trying To Get Over The Rainbow
I so love the Oh Snap cat picture. I'm going to smile about it for a while. Have a great weekend!
Yay for plotters :) I hope all your work pays off for NaNo!
Welcome to the dark side. We have pie charts.
Welcome to the world of plotting! It's not so bad. We schedule parties, too.
LOL, funny how that happens isn't it. I think I've crossed over too.
Hey Alex, don't forget my invite to the party. :)
Outlining isn't so bad... I wouldn't know though because I don't do it. I should though, it may solve things that arise in my writing and stories.
Yay for plotting! I've tried pantsing, but I can never get the hang of it. I'm hoping some plotting before NaNoWriMo will help :)
Don't feel too bad. I've found myself doing exactly the same thing. I even picked up some page markers and lined sticky notes! arg!
And thanks for the info. I'd never heard of a pastel calico! Gotta go look them up.....
Have a great weekend!
Oh no!!!! Come back to Pansterworld Summer!!! I like it here!!! :-)
But seriously!! GOOD FOR YOU!! If it works for your writing - then go for it!!!
Panster card is not revoked though! LOL! Take care
oooooh picture blogfest!!! yay!
lol welcome to my world :)
plotting is way underrated, trust me. just because you research and dream things up and plan does NOT mean you can't change things and dream new things up along the way!
I'm jealous!!! Go you!!! I hope to one day I can fall to the dark side (as Karen described!)
Hey, welcome to our side, we have jackets! I was pretty surprised to find myself a plotter as well--I mean, you should see my bedroom. You'd think I'd love chaos, but apparently not!
I tried pantsing. I don't think I'm very good at it. It's outlining and scene sketching for me from now on, baby!
I feel so freeee...!
