Totally Totem

So, how many of you have writing desk totems?

I have several:

Each one of them means something to me. It's the stuff I stare off into space at. Sometimes I pick them up or touch them (I'm a fairly tactile person). You can tell I have a predilection for birds. I'm probably going to have to buy more, since I can no longer get the double-window, dual-birdfeeder view like I could at my old office. Something about watching them interact has always helped keep my brain functioning. They were my real totems, I guess... *sigh*

So what about you? What are your little desk inhabitors?

i have a stone owl, a little bigger than a tennis ball. I also have a mini koosh ball and a rubber frog when i need something for my hands to fiddle with

Cool! I need some totems for my desk. Right now, I just have lots of photographs that inspire me. Also? I LOVE BIRDS! Someday, I'm going to have a Christmas tree decorated with only bird ornaments :)

On my desk at work, I have Esther, the Desk Frog. She's two and a half years old, and lives in a tiny little plastic tank.

At home, I have both the Buzz Lightyear and Emperor Zurg room protectors. If you push the buttons on the base, they shoot at each other and shout expletives. Well, in a Disney sort of an expletive way.

No desk totems for me; before Monday my desk was blissfully clear except for a cream jug full of pens, and a fern. I am slowly working on getting some visual inspiration on the wall above my desk though!

My home office is full of them, but it's an attic room and like a sauna in the summer and like a freezer in the winter. So, I tend to take my laptop wherever to write, so I guess my mobile totem is a cup of coffee. As long as I have coffee nearby anything is possible!

My office/desk/walls are FULL of them.
I have my constants (like yours they are things that mean something to me, personally) and then there's the rotating silly kitsch that amuses me at that time, and the rotating totems that are specific to a story/project I'm working on...for inspiration.

I think I'll copy you and do a photo blog post of my current desk stuffs.

Also, awwww...you have the bird and tea thingy I sent you as a totem. *hugs* *loves*

Happy writing in your new office in your new home!
Love you,
me

I don't have desk totems, people inspire me to write, but I do like your desk totems.

Lots of tech gadgets. Maybe I could build a pyramid out of empty Hot Tamale boxes.

I like those. :) I don't have anything fun or decorative on my desk, mostly because my desk is always a mess, I never have any room. But I do have a bulletin board above my computer with two-dimensional totems, I guess: letters and notes from friends.

I cling to the darkness. Sometimes I just walk out onto the patio for a few minutes and look up. A few sparse stars, some thin clouds with the moon hiding behind them. Maybe I have a natural affinity for the darkness and what hides in it.

As far as objects. I don't have any. But sometimes I have angry birds running in the background.

Is this like an Inception kind of thing? I have never had a totem at all. I better start thinking of one and maybe my writing will go better:)

I don't have any. I would like to get something but have not found anything that I feel I want there for inspiration yet. Yours are great!
