I Haz the Brilliance.

Do you know what this place is?

Mack, surveying the comfy cat bed before ultimately deciding to sleep on the important papers instead.
Also, the sad birds on the side of the desk. And no, my copper birdfeeder isn't really that orange (anymore).

If you guessed my crappily-drawn office--DING DING! You're a winner.

I learned some important things in this crappily-drawn office this week.

A) Despite the blizzard in January, the state of Georgia still panics over 1 inch of snow. That melts when the sun comes out.

B) No matter how many soft, fluffy beds I buy my cats, they will always choose to sleep on whatever important pieces of paper are on my desk.

C) The love of something you've written is a feeling like none other.

D) Positive feedback from precious CP's is better than chocolate (and that other thing.)

E) When you think you might abandon a writing project, even if you think it will only be for a short time, MAKE COPIOUS NOTES TO YOURSELF. Write down every SCRAP of information that you're thinking about it. Because when you finally come back to that project, 13 months later, you will JUMP UP AND DOWN when you realize that the only work you have left is putting the words on the paper.

F) When you're trying to find the proper universal remote code for your TV, make sure you're looking at the SHARP list, not the SONY.

What did YOU learn this week?

I learned why some people's icons don't lead back to their blog.
And maybe you should just line the cat beds with paper?

Ha ha - love this post! And i can so relate to the points about snow and cats sitting on important pieces of paper!

I'm a Londoner, and everyone alwasy panics at the sight of snow - even though we've been getting it for years. Everything in London comes to a standstill!

And yep - it's all about the notetaking on a project. It's those notes that will beef up the middle of your story.

I definitely need to follow your note-taking advice! And I learned this week that Houston will shut down completely if the temperature drops below freezing. Seriously.

i cemented the knowledge that when my writing is going well, it really makes me resent my day job.

There, that's better! LOL about the universal remote code. :)

*hugs* You deserved that positive feedback. The writing is brilliant. It's an absolute pleasure to be your CP. Truth, that.

I learned I can eat an entire box of Girl Scout thin mint cookies in less than 10 minutes, effortlessly.

Have a delightful weekend! :)
Love,
L

I completely agree with Sarah on this one. Day job resentment. Good thing I took Monday off...

What did I learn this week? Beware of rabbit furred cat toys that end up in the dishwater. The fur tangles around your hand and the thing bleches with water like it's alive. Oh, and I can fling faster than a Jedi's light saber swinging through the air.

Gotta remember the note taking on breaks from writing. Have a grand weekend. (Hugs)Indigo

What other thing?

Bahaha! Yes, this is brilliant. And a positive review from a CP is better than...oh, most anything!! Almost. But SO GOOD!

I learned that five minutes after I think I officially have writer's block, a brand new voice for a brand new story can arrive and keep me going for the rest of the week!

I learned my boss doesn't believe in apologies. :(

I learned how invaluable internet at home is. I have been without it for eight months and have been dying. I am hoping to get caught back up and in touch with everyone like I used to be. Yes, cats are fickle like that. My dog sort of does the same thing, except thank goodness she is too big to get on the desk.

I LOVE positive feedback from my CP's. IT softens the blow of the negative crits. I learned that I need to hack a major part of my WIP.

I have learned that one cats also like to try to sleep on laptop keyboards but only when you are trying to download music or writing an important piece. Two my son likes to kiss girls waaaayyyyy too much and that the hot water always wants to stop working right when you are about to take a shower aggggghhhhh!!!!!

I learned that my dog can sleep away an entire day. A solid eight hours without moving a muscle. Obviously, I don't get out much.

I learned that vodka and lemonade tastes better and causes way less regret the morning after than vodka and coke. I'm afraid I have nothing more enlightened to add since I have to catch up on blogs and read the other entries for a Oasis for YA's That's YAmore blogest!

Oh another post from you that I lurve.

What have I learned this week? Hmmm...let me see...

I've learned that once I think a novel is finished, it's not really finished, I can still write the same story using another POV. In the process, I'm learning and improving my writing and in the end, it's not really a waste of time because then I will see which POV works best.

Happy weekend! :)

I loved the not crappily drawn office pic, lol! And yay! for positive feedback :)

That does sound nice, coming back to a project with copious notes and everything planned out... I tend to come back to abandoned projects, re-read, be intrigued and then be like "WHAA WHERE WAS I GOING WITH THIS?" Very smart on your part!
