Day 29 and Being Alone

Well friends, we're on the other side now.
Oh, not the other side of NaNoWrimo--no, if you look at my little chart to the right, you'll see that I'm taking my sweet time with it this month. More on that later.
We are on the other side of Thanksgiving! Which can only mean one thing: my house is already completely decorated for Christmas! Lowes had their 5-6' trees on sale for 19.96, so we loaded up on Saturday. It's a great tree--very cute, good shape, perfect size for our smallish apartment. The kittens loved exploring, too.

not sure if this will work or not

We had a nice three-day weekend with my in-laws. Took the kittens, which was funny and interesting, as they already have 2 indoor cats, one of which who hates everything, the other who just wants to be loved (the Munchkin).

We also saw Harry Potter 7-1 on Saturday, and I enjoyed it except for that STUPID BITCH (sorry) in front of me who kept making comments and generally ruining the movie for me. Yes, I'm one of those who wants absolute silence during a movie.

So.

NaNoWriMo. Just about all my friends are done, except for Hannah. And I'm okay with that. I like to think I'm trying to experience NaNo the way it was designed: by writing till the 30th. :) Last year I finished over a week early, and then I felt disappointed. This year I just want to be DONE. The story has taken so many unexpected turns that I'm going to have a serious think before I even try to finish it, I think. In the meantime, I think I'll be blowing the dust off of last year's NaNo novel, Eternal Spring, and see if it's about damn time to revise.

Also, the hubby took off for a work conference this morning to Orlando. This is the first time we've been apart longer than a night since...um, almost 5 years? Yeah, it's gonna be weird. I foresee lots of beer and eating strangely.

Hope you all had a great holiday, and see you on the other side of Nano!

Sounds like you had a fun holiday (so did I!).

Best of luck in the homestretch with NaNo! You can do it. :)

Yay! You got your Christmas tree. I am so looking forward! I did Nano for the first time, and just made it past 50K but I agree with you that the point is mainly to write as much and as well as you can, not to win. I just posted over on my blog, and am asking the questions: What was your proudest moment, biggest struggle, most amusing discovery?? I'd love for you to chat about your experience! I you wanna!

LOL, I loved the video of the kitties. I was trying to imagine it from your comment on my blog, but the video was way better.

Good luck and don't give up on Nano! You can totally make it.

Hi Summer, I followed you over here from Fallen's blog because you beat me to making the "Little Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly" joke first...and then I got distracted by the kitties. Good luck with keeping that tree up all season!

If all goes well I hope to finish my NaNo goal tonight. I'd prefer to give myself a day buffer in case the site goes wonky. I want my purple bar!

Aww, love those kitties. And I am aggravated by the lady in front of you at HP. There is nothing worse than a person at a theatre ruining your movie. Ugh.

Have the kitties climbed the tree yet? Good luck with Nano. All participants have my respect.

I always hate being separated from my wife.
Still two more days. I went past 50,000 yesterday, but I'm still writing. Just not as frantic with the hunt & peck!

Hehe. Great video.

You'll get there, I know it. I like to take it slower, too!

Your kittens are the cutest things ever! It looks like they had fun with the new tree :) Good luck wrapping up NaNo! You can do it!

Kitties. Which is why I'm seriously rethinking a tree this year.

Good luck with the end of NaNo.

I always eat strangely when the husband's away.

I'm SO jealous about your Christmas tree prices! Here. you'd be lucky to get a 3' three for less than £30. I kid you not. Robbery!

Good luck with the rest of NaNo!

We eat strangley when husband's away, too. Unfortunately, since my hubby travels about, oh, five days a week, the novelty of Mac and Cheese every night wore off about two years ago. So we alternate with frozen pizza.

Cute cute video! Loved it. :) Kitty in a tree!

I'm the same, I need to have silence in the theatre (unless it's a laugh your ass off comedy) otherwise I get annoyed. There are certain movies I insist on watching alone because I know that the others with me will give a very loud running commentary!

There's no shame in drinking beer and eating strangely when you're home alone. Just sayin'. :)

Oh I can't play your clip!!! But I am at work so maybe my home pc will be better!! Will try later!!

CONGRATULATIONS with Nano - so nearly there!!!!! Go GIRL!!!!!

I hate hate hate hate it when people speak during the film in the cinema!! That's just RUDE!!! Oh you poor thing - I hope you still enjoyed HP though!!

I hope your home alone days go quickly!!! Beer is definitely a must! Take care

When we went to see HP7.1 it was PACKED...people were hacking/coughing, talking, texting (KILL!), getting up and down. The lady in front of me reeked of cheap perfume and cigarettes and farts.

Mack told me that tree is his scratching post.

You'll finish Nano with time to spare...and I happen to love the weird turns your nano-ms took!

Be careful where you park, yo. ;)

Love you,
Lola

I've seen HP twice now! LOVE IT! Sorry about the S.B.--can't stand when she sneaks into movies!

That right there is the reason we haven't had a tree in a few years. 5 cats+something-new-that-looks-like-fun-that-might-just-eat-them-but-who-cares-lets-climb-on-it-and-knock-things-down-tree=disaster.

But are the ones at Lowes real or fake? Cause...might just have to see about one of those little 20$ ones...

Good luck on figuring out your new Nano novel. And revising the old one!

I can't see the picture, but I'm sure it is beautiful! Good luck with your last days of NaNo!!

We are decorated also, now I just have to clean up after the muddy footprints carrying in boxes from the garage, shoveling snow, carrying boxes out to the garage, shoveling more snow... But at least the house is ready for Christmas.

I would've kept kicking that woman's seat in the cinema until she would just shut up :))

I work best under deadlines. Which is why I didn't do NaNo. If I did I'd have 50,000 words to write right now.
