Indy Pen Dance

Hope everyone's getting their holiday (or regular) weekend off to a great start!

This morning, Evan and I went to see The Last Airbender, which was beautiful (I didn't watch the series, so I can't judge, but Evan wasn't thrilled.) But it was sooo pretty!!! Special effects are so amazing these days.

Our itty-bitty town of 2,000 has an annual Fourth of July festival right in the 300-yard strip of "downtown"--which basically meant that every side road, including the one we live on, was double-parked with cars. When we got back from the movie, we sauntered down the hill to check it out. It was totally lame, as always, but I did get some boiled peanuts! Yummmm. Then I gorged myself on them and took a nap.

Anyway.

Thanks for all the supportive comments on my self-indulgent post yesterday. Though the feelings were there, I did mean it to be humorous, and I'm glad that came across. :-) I'm in higher spirits today--so high, in fact, that I'm making myself a little public commitment:

Current wordcount, as of 5:05pm EST, July 3rd: 57,952 words

Wordcount as of Tuesday AM, July 6th: 64,000 words.

I'm really hoping to be done before July 15, but that is my cut-off date.

As in holding tradition, I'd like to have a contest to celebrate the completion of my second novel. Details and such to be provided at a later time.

So, I hope everyone has a fun and productive weekend, and if you're nearing the end of your WIP, try not to give into this temptation:

The Last Airbender doesn't get released here until August but there's so many mutterings about it already! But it's nice to know you enjoyed it!

Glad you had some boiled peanuts!

And happy 4th of July!!

I've been looking forward to seeing that movie! Tomorrow it's supposed to be raining and thundering during our fireworks show. I hope it holds off. Have a good fourth!

We probably won't make it to that movie (even though it looks cool), but we did get to see Toy Story 3!

Wow, I'd be thrilled with that word count. Good luck! (And your picture cracked me up!)

WHOO! contest! I've heard some really damning reviews of Airbender, which is a shame. I've only seen 1 episode of the animation, so I don't think I'd be too disappointed with it. I was a fan of Shayalaman's stuff, but I lost faith more and more with each movie.

Hope your July 4th is awesome. Us Brits have to wait for November 5th to get a similar party (which, when you think about it, is a pretty sinister reason for us to celebrate :S).

It's awesome how close you are to getting your word count too. What's your celebration treat once it's done? (besides the contest - WHOO contest!)

Sheesh... it's been ages since I've made it over here (bad Rebecca) Glad you're feeling better :)

We're going for a 4th of July celebration tonight at a nearby town. It's my favorite place to go so I'm excited.

I've been told that if you haven't seen the original Avatar cartoons then you'll probably like the movie, but if you have then you won't. At least that seems to be the consensus. I haven't so I've been wanting to see the movie :D

Didn't see TLAB yet but I did see Eclipse yesterday.
You can make your deadline! I have faith in you. :)

Happy 4th!

Happy 4th! Small town parades are fun - even when they're lame :) We have a few in nearby towns that go around twice so that they're long enough :)
